It started even before I can remember
When I was a small kid around 3 years old, at my little brothers baptism at church, they lost me. They went all around to look at me. Finally I was found in a small chamber sitting at a piano playing.
I don’t remember this myself. I’ve been told this story later from my parents, but since I can think, music was a central part of my life.
What I do remember well are all the little milestones like getting my own piano when I was seven. Or when I had my first band with my brother. The first gigs, the first little successes and failures. Until the age of 20 I’ve been on stage over 200 times as a musician. But four years earlier I had discovered my passion for audio engineering. Soon it came crystal clear to me that I found my profession.
The freedom to do what I truly want
I felt more comfortable behind the desk than on stage. But knowing how it feels on stage and what musicians need up there helped me a lot to gain good jobs in the industry quickly. I’ve been on tour with several artists nationwide and had the honour to engineer for international artists performing in switzerland like “The Roots”, “Snow Patrol”, “Westlife” and many others. I did not count it all, but it must have been at least over 2000 shows in the last 20 Years.
Becoming a pro
Parallel I started my studio work as a intern. After a few years I decided to go big and startet my own studio in Zurich. With two buddies together we’ve built the largest studio complex in Zurich. Some beautiful day Lenny Kravitz dropped by to record a song for the campaign for a guy called Barack Obama… We did not know this man until that point too well – but this changed a few months later.
The journey continues
In the past ten years I had the honour to serve some of the most high profiled artists in the world such as Eminem, Justin Timberlake and Robbie Williams.
That’s because most artists touring around the globe, when they perform in a small country like Switzerland, they usually play the largest city from that country. In Switzerland that is Zurich, of course. So it’s one of the best places on earth to get in touch with some of the most succesful artists.
There’s a life outside the studiowalls as well
After ten years of living on the fast lane, I decided to settle down. I startet a family and moved my studio to a smaller place. It’s still in Zurich and I’m able to do everything I want there. This new place gives me the freedom to focus not only on commercial work but also on more artistic project. Making music with my friends and kids. Or finally even make just music for myself.
I built a cozy place with daylight, my beloved vintage instruments and a good vibe.
I am doing every kind of audio work in there, such as ADR, speech recording for commercials, vocal recordings and producing whole bands.
When I need some recreation, I love to paint or photograph, all the pics on this website I did on my own. I learned that having a good balance of work and life is important especially for those working in the creative area.
When you are here working on your project you’ll find me focussed on every detail about it. 40 years after getting my passion for music on a piano in a small church in a small town, this passion continues. Let’s do some great things together!
